Halloween Eyeballs & Apple Pumpkin Painting

I normally don’t post anything on the weekend but I love Halloween so much I couldn’t resist. We’ve been crafting and cooking our little hearts out over here and I wanted to share two items that are my favorite.

Peanut Butter, Chocolate Eyeballs

Recipe (Makes about 24 eyeballs):

  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter (do not get the kind where the oil and butter separate. You can also use almond or cashew butter should an allergy require but just make sure you add in extra powdered sugar until the mixture is firm.)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2-3 packages decent quality white chocolate
  • 1 package of mini M&Ms (regular will do if you can’t find mini)
  • red frosting packet

First mix the peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar together in a bowl. Form these into balls (about 1 TBSP a piece) and place on a waxed paper lined tray.

Then in a double boiler, melt the chocolate. Once it has completely melted pour into a squeeze bottle. If you don’t have a squeeze bottle you can use a spoon to pour it over the peanut butter balls but it just isn’t as easy.

Squeeze the chocolate out onto the eyeballs working in a circular fashion to make sure the ball is completely covered.

Before the chocolate sets add an M&M (face down) on top of the ball. This is meant to be the iris.

Once the chocolate is set, use the red frosting to draw squiggle lines to complete a bloodshot-eyeball look.

Apple Pumpkin Painting:

This one is so simple! All you need is an apple, paper, and green and orange paint. I shocked myself and put plastic wrap over the table so I didn’t have to worry about it or clean up. How did I not think of this before? Just cut the apple in half and use as a stamp for the pumpkins. The after they’ve dried, go back and add the stems. So simple and so cute. We used ours as Halloween cards.
